Geographic Information System (GIS) & Global Positioning System (GPS)

The Geographic Information System (GIS) is another program unique to the region. GIS represents the application of state of the art computer technology to mapping. Since maps are crucial to so many government operations, this represents a major advancement in services now available at the Area Development District. Some organizations that will potentially benefit are the local governmental entities, industrial foundations, planning commissions and water/sewer districts.
