The main function of the LTADD's Regional Transportation Program is to support the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) in the statewide transportation planning process. This includes the coordination of public input, analysis of data, and the identification, evaluation, and prioritization of transportation needs in the district.
It is the responsibility of the LTADD, the KYTC Highway District 04, and the Transportation Cabinet to continually review and evaluate the current transportation system in the district and determine which projects will have the greatest positive impact in the region. These planned projects are then funded and implemented by the State.
The Regional Transportation Committee, along with local governments and the general public, creates Goals and Objectives and a Regional Concept Plan to better focus regional efforts and establish a direction for future development.
